4th Bio Summit in Tsuruoka

4th Bio Summit in Tsuruoka (sponsored by Yamagata pref., Tsuruoka city and IAB, Keio University) was held at Tsuruoka City on Aug 3-5, 2014. 65 poster presentations presented. About 200 participants from all over Japan gathered to Tsuruoka Japan.

Metabolomics2014

Tenth Annual International Conference of the Metabolomics Society (Metabolomics2014) was held in Tsuruoka City on June 23-26, 2014. There were 10 keynote talks, 4 workshops, 62 oral presentations and 268 poster presentations. 550 participants from 36 countries gathered in Tsuruoka for the event.

IAB accepts twenty one local students as "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student"

IAB accepts twenty one local students as "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student"


Six local high school students joined on-going cutting edge projects at IAB. (This program was established in May 2009 ) The high school,Tsuruoka Chuo high school (Principal Mr. Toshiya Inoue, total enrollment of 822 students), is located right next to IAB and the six students were selected after written examinations and interviews.

In addition to it, Fiften local students (three from Tsuruoka Minami high school, one from Tsuruoka Kita high school, one from Tsuruoka Kogyo high school, one from Tsuruoka Chuo high school, four from Haguro high school and five from Tsuruoka Higashi high school ) started their research activity as "Special Research Student" at IAB.

A welcome ceremony for those "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student" was held on April 24,2014.

A group of IAB researchers including Dr. Shinji Fukuda, Project Associate Professor of IAB, Keio University published the findings of a new study entitled "Commensal microbe-derived butyrate induces the differentiation of colonic regulatory T cells in Nature(2013) doi:10.1038/nature12721.
