The 6th Annual meeting of Japanese Society for Cell Synthesis Research

The 6th Annual meeting of Japanese Society for Cell Synthesis Research(JSCSR6.0) was held at the Lecture Hall, Tsuruoka Metabolome campus, in Tsuruoka City on Nov 14-15, 2013. There were 17 oral presentations and 77 poster presentations. About 340 participants from all over Japan gathered in Tsuruoka for the event.

A group of IAB researchers including Dr. Shinji Fukuda, Project Associate Professor of IAB, Keio University published the findings of a new study entitled "Commensal microbe-derived butyrate induces the differentiation of colonic regulatory T cells in Nature(2013) doi:10.1038/nature12721.

The 1st Cancer Metabolism was held at the Lecture Hall, Tsuruoka Metabolome campus, in Tsuruoka City on Oct 30-Nov 1, 2013. There were 29 oral presentations and 31 poster presentations. About 340 participants from all over Japan gathered in Tsuruoka for the event.

3rd Bio Summit in Tsuruoka

3rd Bio Summit in Tsuruoka

3rd Bio Summit in Tsuruoka (sponsored by Yamagata pref., Tsuruoka city and IAB, Keio University) was held at Tsuruoka City on Aug 19-21, 2013. 35 poster presentations presented. About 120 participants from all over Japan gathered to Tsuruoka Japan.

The research group of Dr. Masahiro Sugimoto won 2013 Best Paper Award of Metabolomics Society.

IAB accepts twenty one local students as "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student"

IAB accepts twenty one local students as "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student"


Six local high school students joined on-going cutting edge projects at IAB. (This program was established in May 2009 ) The high school, Tsuruoka Chuo high school (Principal Mr. Toshiya Inoue, total enrollment of 827 students), is located right next to IAB and the six students were selected after written examinations and interviews.

In addition to it, Fiften local students (eight from Tsuruoka Minami high school, two from Tsuruoka Chuo high school, two from Haguro high school and three from Tsuruoka Higashi high school ) started their research activity as "Special Research Student" at IAB.

A welcome ceremony for those "RA-U18" and "Special Research Student" was held on April 25,2013.

Inhibition of Mitochondrial Aconitase by Succination in Fumarate Hydratase Deficiency

A group of IAB researchers including Dr. Tomoyoshi Soga of IAB, Keio University in collaboration with University of Oxford, published the findings of a new study entitled "Inhibition of Mitochondrial Aconitase by Succination in Fumarate Hydratase Deficiency" in Cell Reports on March 14, 2013.
