Mr. Kazuki Tanaka, 2nd year master's student at Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance, conducted research on the suppression of colitis in rice bran and the result of the research was presented at the 23rd Annual Enteric Bacteriological Society held in Tokyo on June 18 and 19, and received the Best Presentation Award.
This study suggests that rice bran intake regulates the metabolism of tryptophan, which is a type of amino acid in the intestine, by changing the balance of intestinal microbiota, which leads to suppression of colitis.
