Bacterial regulatory RNA project

Microorganisms inhabit diverse environments including soil, rivers, and animals. To respond to environmental cues, gene expression is regulated at multiple levels. Among the years, regulation at the RNA level, such as transcription termination, translation, and mRNA stability, has been found, however some of the molecular mechanisms and regulatory factors are poorly understood. Our project will elucidate the functions of small regulatory RNAs and RNA-binding proteins as regulatory factors in Escherichia coli, leading to the establishment of an RNA technology platform for microbial control.
