Synthetic Biology Project
In the 20th century, Chemistry and related technologies solved many problems and enriched human society. However, people are now facing different types of problems such as the spread of new infectious viruses and antibiotic-resistant pathogens as well as climate change. We must explore new technologies that compensate for the limitations of chemical synthesis. Our group uses a Synthetic Biology approach to solve the challenges above. Using a long DNA synthesis technology, artificially designed gigantic enzymes, and genetically engineered microbes, we will produce a wide variety of compounds that cannot be synthesized by Chemistry-based approaches.
